Who Is the Privilege Visa For?

The Privilege Visa suits a specific profile. It is not the right choice for everyone.

No Income Documentation RequiredHigh Net Worth

High Net Worth

No Income Documentation Required

You want the simplest possible path to long-term legal residency with no income documentation, no employment obligations and no age requirements. You are a high-net-worth individual who does not meet the income or employer criteria of the LTR visa but wants a long-stay option without complex documentation.

Complex or Difficult-to-Document IncomeBusiness Owners

Business Owners

Complex or Difficult-to-Document Income

You are a business owner or entrepreneur whose income is difficult to document in a way that satisfies standard visa requirements. The Privilege Visa requires only proof of access to the membership fee: no tax returns, no employer letters, no certified financial statements.

Maximum Stability and FlexibilityLong-Term Certainty

Long-Term Certainty

Maximum Stability and Flexibility

You want certainty and stability. Paying once and having legal residency confirmed for 5 to 20 years eliminates annual renewal burden. You travel frequently and want the flexibility of a multi-entry long-stay visa with no minimum stay requirement and premium airport immigration services.

The Privilege Visa is not for

✗People who need to work in Thailand: the Privilege Visa gives no work rights whatsoever
✗People who want tax advantages: unlike the LTR, no income tax exemptions or reduced rates
✗People who meet the LTR income or investment criteria: the LTR is cheaper over 10 years and offers more benefits
✗People on a budget: the DTV at 10,000 THB serves most remote workers at a fraction of the cost

Key insight

What are privilege points?

Privilege points are a separate perk from the visa itself: an annual allowance redeemable for lifestyle services, including hotel stays, airport transfers, leisure and shopping discounts, wellness and health checkups, and concierge assistance. Higher tiers receive a larger annual allocation. Unused points do not carry over to the next year, so it is worth redeeming what you are allocated. Bronze membership does not include privilege points.

Eligibility Requirements

No age restriction and no nationality restriction. The Thailand Privilege Visa is available to foreign nationals of all ages from virtually all countries worldwide.

Valid passport with sufficient remaining validity. No minimum number of blank pages specified, but a minimum of 12 months remaining validity is recommended.

You must demonstrate access to the membership fee for your chosen tier. No proof of income level or ongoing financial standing is required, only proof that you can pay the membership fee.

Applicants with serious criminal records or those on Thai immigration blacklists will be rejected. Standard background screening is conducted by Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. Most applicants pass without issue.

Unlike the LTR Work-from-Thailand or DTV Workcation categories, there is no requirement to prove employment, freelance activity or any form of income-generating work. The Privilege Visa is a pure long-stay membership.

How to Apply for the Thailand Privilege Visa: Step by Step

How to apply for the Thailand Privilege Visa

Decide which membership tier suits your needs and budget. Bronze offers the best value per year but is a promotional tier with a deadline of September 30, 2026. Gold is the standard 5-year entry tier. Platinum, Diamond and Reserve offer longer durations. Consider how long you realistically plan to live in Thailand before committing.

Apply online through the official Thailand Privilege Card website at privilegecard.th or through an authorised General Sales and Services Agent. The application requires basic biographical information, passport details and a bank statement demonstrating access to the membership fee. No proof of income level or employment is required.

Thailand Privilege Card Co. conducts a security screening on all applicants. Applicants with serious criminal records or those on Thai immigration blacklists will be rejected. Most applicants pass without issue. Total processing typically takes 4 to 6 weeks from submission, occasionally extending to 8 weeks depending on nationality and application volume.

If your application is approved you receive an official approval notification. Payment of the membership fee is made directly to Thailand Privilege Card Co., Ltd. only after approval.

Key insight:You pay nothing if your application is rejected. Financial risk is zero on the application itself.

After payment, your Thailand Privilege Visa is issued. You receive a physical Thailand Privilege Card and your passport is stamped with the entry permission. Your 1-year entry stamp starts from your first entry into Thailand after issuance. Every time you leave and re-enter Thailand, you receive a fresh 1-year stamp. If you don't plan to travel within that year, you can apply for a 1-year extension at your local immigration office before the stamp expires.

Despite the premium positioning, standard Thai immigration obligations still apply.

Key insight:The 90-day address reporting obligation applies in full to all Privilege Visa holders. Thailand Privilege Card provides support with this but you cannot avoid the obligation itself. A valid TM30 must also be on file whenever you change address. Additionally, unless you leave and re-enter Thailand, your 1-year entry stamp must be extended annually at immigration before it expires.
